Who is Health Shield?

Health Shield started back in 1877, helping railway workers keep their health on track. Today, they’re still steaming ahead with over 340,000 customers and their families, looking after their health and wellbeing. As a not-for-profit friendly society, what matters to most to them are their values of being member focussed, always listening and continually improving. Striving to offer affordable and accessible employee health and wellbeing benefits.

What’s a Health Cash Plan?

A Health Cash Plan is a money back scheme that allows you to claim money back on everyday healthcare costs such as dental, optical, massages and much more. University of Huddersfield have teamed up with Health and Wellbeing provider Health Shield to offer you via payroll, access to a Health Cash Plan. You can include your partner and children too.

You can get money back on benefits related to mental health too. Claiming is easy and once approved, Health Shield can pop the money into your bank account.

What benefits can I get?

You have a range of benefits that you can claim back the cost for and there’s an annual limit on how much you can claim for each benefit per year. There are other wellness benefits related to hospital, specialist consultations, maternity and even a hot stone or deep tissue massage. Once a member, you’ll access your benefits through the Members’ Area, which contains all the information you need to help you stay in the best of health.
