Dr Jess Wade is a physicist at Imperial College London, who has done extensive public engagement and outreach, as well as trying to improve research culture and champion people from historically marginalised groups in science and engineering.
Dr Wade is striving endlessly to change the perceptions of women in science. Whether she’s redressing Wikipedia’s under-representation of women and Black Asian and minority ethnic people in STEM subjects or using social media (@jesswade) to highlight inequalities in her field, she is motivated by the simple yet powerful concept: “diverse teams do better science”.
Join Dr Wade on Wednesday 9 March at 1.00pm as the University marks International Women’s Day #BreakTheBias (Tuesday 8 March). Everyone’s welcome to hear Dr Wade discuss breaking the bias and the importance of keeping the equality conversation going.
