As we move through Autumn daylight hours are getting shorter and many of us will be coming to work and going home after work in the dark. It can be hard to motivate yourself to spend as much time outdoors, but the benefits of spending time outside and walking are huge:
- Better sleep
- Reduce stress
- Good for your heart health
- Boost your brain
- Good for mental health
Don’t just take my word for it – read the British Heart Foundation’s article on the Wonders of Winter Walking !
I am planning walks on the following dates:
Monday 1st November 12.30 – 1pm Meet Rianna at iPoint for walk through campus to the Toast House to pick up a take away coffee for those who would like one and then back along the canal.
Tuesday 9th November 12.30 – 1pm
Thursday 18th November 12.30 –1pm
Wednesday 24th November 12.30 – 1pm
Monday 29th November 12.30 – 1pm
Tuesday 7th December 12.30 – 1pm
Wednesday 15th December 12.30 – 1pm
I’m fairly new to campus, so what would be AMAZING is if anyone else would be willing to think up a little route and take charge one week, although I will attend all of the walks. I always enjoy a route that takes in a coffee/cake stop, but I am flexible :) If you are happy to lead a route one week, please let me know which date you can lead and I will add your name to the list – I would really appreciate your support!
I hope these walks will provide you with a reason to get away from your desk for half an hour and meet with colleagues that you might not otherwise get to speak to!
If you are unable to make these days/times maybe you could instigate something similar within your school/service even if it’s only once a month.
I would also highly recommend that you book yourself on the Campus Tour and Sustainability Tour if you haven’t already done so – our campus is amazing!!
Please email Rianna Armitage if you have any questions.
