Another Popular Surface Metrology School

Held over three days, 2 to 4 September 2019, the 4th Surface Metrology School was the most successful yet.  The school is targeted at new researchers and professionals from both academia and industry and both areas were well represented with the 20 delegates drawn from 4 universities and 4 companies.  Topics covered over the three days ranged from an introduction to metrology through to different types of metrology instruments and processing of data.  In addition to the theoretical aspects of good metrology practice, delegates were given the opportunity to develop practical skills with a hands-on tutorial.  Two external companies attended showcasing a range of the latest metrology systems.

The course was organised by Dr Katie Addinall and the programme delivered by a team of experts from the Future Metrology Hub.  Feedback for the school was extremely positive with delegates commenting on the expertise, passion and engagement of the presenters and the variety and depth of topics in combination with practical examples and tours of the Hub facilities.

The Surface Metrology School will run again in 2020.
