The University of Huddersfield has improved its position against universities in Yorkshire and the Humber in the Complete University Guide 2026 rankings, moving up to be ranked fourth in the region.

Nationally, Huddersfield maintains its strong position in the second quartile, ranking 65th out of 130 universities in the UK.

The University’s continued investment in student success and employability is reflected in a 14-place rise in the Graduate Prospects: Outcomes category, underscoring Huddersfield’s commitment to preparing students for the world of work.

This year also marks the University’s strongest subject area performance in three years, with 14 subjects ranked in the top half of all institutions.

Huddersfield also improved its ranking in the continuation category, the proportion of students who remain on their course after one year of study. The University rose 29 places, improving its continuation rate at a time when the average in the league tables has fallen.

Several subject areas have recorded notable progress. The University now ranks 25th out of 80 institutions for Music — an eight-place improvement on the previous year — and 23rd out of 73 institutions for Social Work.

Professor Bob Cryan CBE, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Huddersfield, said:

"I am very pleased with our performance in the Complete University Guide rankings, particularly our strong standing within the Yorkshire and Humber region.
