Learn the language of textiles at Research in Conversation talk on 23 July

Dr Claire Barber will talk about what textiles art can reveal about the environment, history, grief and hope in a fascinating lecture that is open to the public for free at the next Research in Conversation event on 23 July.
Senior lecturer in Textiles and Fashion, and a member of the international textiles art collective The 62 Group, Claire will share how her art practice blends fabric, sound, and immersive installations to explore how personal and planetary loss are deeply intertwined.
Whether you’re into art, ecology, or just curious about how creativity connects us all, this lecture promises to inspire, engage, and maybe even make you see fabric in a whole new way.
Reserve your place for this free event at the Oastler Building on campus and be part of the conversation that's reshaping how we think about research, collaboration, and frontline expertise. The talk is part of a year of events to mark 200 years of technical and professional education in Huddersfield.
