Thirty Huddersfield students who will not have a Christmas with the kind of family support enjoyed by many of their friends came together at an event on campus just before the end of term.
The students, who are all care experienced or estranged, met with staff from the University’s Wellbeing team and all received a bag of goodies and Huddersfood vouchers.
Christmas can be a daunting prospect for those without a family support network for whatever reason but the event, with food and drink for all, was a welcome addition to the support that Wellbeing offer to all students with these backgrounds throughout the year.

“Some of our students will have a difficult Christmas period, and this was a nice opportunity for them to meet people with a shared or similar experience before we broke up,” says Rebecca Hayes, Support Coordinator for care leavers. "We also helped come up with plans for the festive season for them, so that they can enjoy it as much as possible."
