Czech Student Gets Top Marks and Wins Course Prize

Huddersfield Business School has seen 500 Czech Bachelor and Master students graduate since 2004. They have all done very well but none better than Karolína Růžičková who graduated with a Distinction in her master's degree in international business, having obtained top marks in all her modules!

Karolína is from Prague, the Czech capital. She took a bachelor's degree in international business at the Prague University of Economics and Business.  She then moved to the UK in 2019 to be with her English partner. She worked for a year working as a front of house in a local hotel and then applied to study at the University of Huddersfield in September 2020.

Karolína says: "I had read that the University is very supportive of international students, and it was also gold-rated for teaching excellence. Moreover, I appreciated the opportunity to choose our capstone project - I chose the Group Consultancy Project.  I highly recommend the Group Consultancy Project, as it gave me experience and skills that are highly valued in today's labour market".  Karolína's project was concerned with funding strategies for National Health Service activities such as social prescribing and how stakeholders can work together to achieve this. Dr Radi Haloub, Module Leader of the Consultancy Project says: "Karolína was a fantastic student and managed to overcome group and project difficulties very efficiently".

Karolína is very positive about her experience at Huddersfield Business School: "Despite the pandemic, the lecturers and other university staff ensured we did not miss out on learning opportunities. The block system of teaching made the experience more intensive but easier in some respects. I could really feel that all my lecturers were there to help me with anything I needed. I very much appreciate the wide range of optional modules we could choose from.  The group projects I was working on as part of some modules also allowed me to be in touch regularly with my classmates (both on-line and face to face), which I found very helpful during the pandemic".

Karolína is currently looking for a job in Human Resources. She says, "thanks to the optional modules I chose, I have become very passionate about HR".
