Professor of Construction and Property Economics

Les Ruddock is Professor of Construction and Property Economics in the School of Art, Design and Architecture at the University of Huddersfield. He is the Coordinator of the CIB Working Commission (W055) Construction Industry Economics and has published extensively in the area of the role of the construction sector in the macroeconomy, with such publications as Economics for the Modern Built Environment.

Prof. Les Ruddock has recently acquired a prestigious advisory appointment as a member of the Department for Transport’s (DfT) Technical Challenge Panel for its Common Inflation Forecasting Model for Construction.

This is an independent expert panel consisting of three eminent economists as specialist technical advisors to provide expert support to the DfT and Prof. Ruddock’s specific role is that of expert in construction economics. The project will involve the development of a model of construction cost inflation that will apply across projects such as HS2, Crossrail2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail.
