Huddersfield Pride is back and bigger than before!

Huddersfield Pride 2019 is brought to you by the University Huddersfield Students’ Union working in collaboration with the LGBTQ+ community both on and off University campus and with organisations all across Kirklees.

As well as supporting and celebrating the LGBTQ+ community in Huddersfield, Huddersfield Pride aims to bring all people together, increase understanding, and make sure everybody knows that Huddersfield is a place to be proud.

Huddersfield Pride promotes tolerance and acceptance of all our diverse communities. This includes all who identify under the umbrella term of LGBTQ+ in some way; as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, asexual, intersex, pansexual and/or questioning.

Join us to celebrate Huddersfield Pride, with a range of free family-friendly entertainment on 2 June at the Lawrence Batley Theatre from 12pm ending with a ticketed Variety Show in the evening. Free daytime entertainment includes a courtyard stage with live music, food stalls, workshops and performances. The day is capped off with the Variety Show which will play host to our headliner Rock Q – a Queen tribute act, Scandalous Productions and more to be announced, tickets are on sale now and just £6.

There will be a great mixture of live music, poetry readings and drag acts, from a whole host of local and national performers, as well as some fantastic food vendors and workshops.

Tom Bowden, Community Officer has said ‘Planning for Huddersfield Pride actually started over a year ago, after small discussions with our LGBTQ+ Society in the Students’ Union, who were making it known they wanted another Pride to happen. I’ve had the opportunity of being involved in important town centre meetings and have managed to build great connections in the Council. It’s clear that Huddersfield has a want to improve and engage more of our residents with the town centre with whispers of more events and developments. Now with a date in the diary, and all partners on board with our vision, we’re now focussing on delivering the best Huddersfield Pride to date and hope to see many people there.’
