Andrew Hebden
Technical Textiles Research Centre
Hi, my name is Andrew and I have worked in the Technical Textiles Research Centre since its inception and have strong research interests in both medical textiles and sustainability. In my current teaching, a key aspect of my work with undergraduate students is developing their understanding of textile material properties and how to quantify these. This then allows our creatively focused textile students to make informed decisions during the design process. In addition, I have previously led a postgraduate module on textile testing as part of our previous textiles Master’s course – Product Innovation with Textiles.
About
I have taught a wide range of modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, in face-to-face and distance learning mode, in addition to practical classes primarily in the area of textiles, but with some chemistry.
Research
My research has primarily been industry focused, engaging in projects trying to solve specific issues for companies or indeed on product development. I have published a number of articles in peer reviewed journals and written three book chapters. Currently my role is part of a €21.8 million EU-funded collaboration to create a first-of-its-kind Hub for Circularity in the capital region of Greece.
