Welcome to Linguistics and Modern Languages. During your time with us, we’ll help you sharpen and develop your skills as a linguist. We will focus on the practical, real-world applications of linguistics, and offer options to suit your interests, and develop your employability. You’ll have the opportunity to take advantage of a work placement period in your second year, or take the chance to study abroad as part of your degree. Our great new facilities in the Oastler Building include a brand new speech science lab, an interpreting suite and a Modern Languages Centre, where you can study a new language, or continue to develop your ability in an existing language.
