Why study Economics

Our courses will provide you with an in-depth understanding of how economics underpins and influences many aspects of our everyday decisions and lives. From interest rates and inflation to employment rates and economic growth, we’re all affected by the economy throughout our lives, which makes it an interesting and important subject area.

In these courses, you’ll get to explore complex economic theories, often depicted diagrammatically or mathematically and learn to understand statistical economic models and how they affect the real world. You’ll learn about macroeconomics by studying the interactions of income, inflation, exchange rates and consumption alongside microeconomics, where you’ll study competition, regulation and intervention. As you progress through your degree, you’ll get to choose modules to tailor your degree to your interests and needs.

You’ll get to have an in-depth understanding of economics while also developing some highly desirable transferable skills. An Economics degree offers so many exciting, varied career opportunities across a wide range of industries such as banking, finance, economics and management, consultancy, government, journalism and accountancy.
