Research and Scholarship
Richard is studying for a PhD part-time at Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies, under the supervision of Prof Stuart Allan and Prof Richard Sambrook. The title is ‘Late Night Final: The sustainability of court reporting in the UK media’. It examines the history of media law and court reporting in the UK and the ability of traditional media companies to effectively report the courts in an era of declining circulations and staffing levels at many local newspapers, as well as how that coverage might be provided in the future. It is due for completion in 2019.
