Open Day Hashtag Do I have to register to attend an Open Day?

It is highly recommended that you register in advance, although you can just turn up on the day. Registering to attend the Open Day means you’ll be able to reserve your place at the subject specific talks, tours and activities throughout the day so you get the most from your visit.

Will I receive confirmation of my booking?

Yes, an email will be sent to you once you register to attend the Open Day. The email contains links to lots of useful information you’ll need to make the most of the day. It also contains a QR code, so bring the email with you either on your phone or a print out so we can scan it at the Check-in desk.

I have special requirements/disabilities how can you assist me?

Should you have any special requirements/disabilities that need to be taken into account on the day then please contact the Schools and Colleges Liaison team direct on 01484 472282 or e-mail before the Open Day so we can make the necessary arrangements to make your day as enjoyable as possible.

What time should I arrive?

We recommend that you arrive before lunchtime to ensure you squeeze more into your day. 

Can we see student accommodation?

DIGS accommodation will be available to view throughout the day (no booking is required). A bus service will take you to and from the halls, so there’s no need to worry about transport. Please note that the University does not own the student accommodation. This is run by the University’s preferred recommended and approved company DIGS Student.

Storthes Hall Park Student Village

The first bus will depart 10.30 am, with buses then running every 20 minutes up to Storthes Hall Park Student Village. You can stay for as long as you wish and get the next bus back to campus. The last bus up to Storthes Hall Park Student Village will be at 3.00pm.

Ashenhurst Student Houses

The first bus will depart at 10.00am, with buses then running every 30 minutes to Ashenhurst Student Houses. The tour will take approximately 40 minutes and you will then return to campus on the bus. The last bus to Ashenhurst Student Houses will be at 2.00pm.

In addition, DIGS Student accommodation will also be giving talks at each Open Day.

What do I need to bring with me on the day?

Simply bring your registration confirmation email, either on your phone or as a print out and you’ll be able to check-in quickly.

Do I need to check in on the day?

Yes. The check in area will be in Student Central along with the Information Fair. Here you can collect the most up-to-date Open Day Programme which will include room numbers and any minor changes for the day. You can also enjoy some free refreshments before you head out onto campus.

How many visitors can I bring?

We have no limit on the number of visitors attending with you.  Children can accompany parents, however, we ask that if you are attending a presentation and they get restless that you leave so as not to disturb other visitors.

Where do I go when I arrive?

Please make your way to Student Central in the Central Services Building.  We also have Student Ambassadors in orange T-shirts across campus to direct you throughout the day.

Where can I find a programme?

An online programme is available to view on the web.  A printed programme will be available for you to collect upon check in on the day.  This will give you all the room numbers and talks for the day.

What if I can't make it or want to change my booking?

You can amend or cancel your booking using the link within the registration confirmation email.

Where can I park on the day?

Limited free parking is available in the Queensgate campus car parks which will be on a first-come, first-served basis.  There are public pay and display car parks around the town centre.

Where can I eat on campus?

We have many cafes available on campus for you to try.

How do I get from the train/bus station to the University?

Both are only a 10 minute walk to the University.  Please see directions.  There will be a Student Ambassador at the train station to direct you to the University.

Do you have campus tours?

Yes, guided walking tours of campus are available at regular intervals throughout the day and there is no need to book; just go to the Help Desk in the Information Fair. These will be led by our Student Ambassadors.
