By Car

There is a limited amount of car parking available on the day which is allocated on a first come first served basis. There are a number of pay and display car parks within easy walking distance of the University which you can see on our car park map.

We will be using 2 car parks on the day. Queen Street South (use sat nav HD1 3DU) and the 3M Firth Street Car Park (use sat nav HD1 3BD). There will be staff/ambassadors on the car parks to direct you to the check in area for the day.

From the M1 to Queensgate, Huddersfield

Exit the M1 at junction 38. At the roundabout take the second exit onto the A637 (signposted Huddersfield) for approximately 6 miles. At the third roundabout take the first exit onto the A642. On the approach to Huddersfield this turns into the A629. As you approach Huddersfield town centre, drive past Lidl supermarket on your left through two sets of traffic lights and up to the roundabout (University on your left hand side). Take the first exit at the roundabout and the entrance to the Queensgate car park is approximately 100 yards on the left.

From the M62 to Queensgate, Huddersfield

Please note there are three junctions off the M62 to Huddersfield. We have suggested Jct 25 as the easiest to find us. Exit the M62 at Junction 25 (see note above). Take the A644 towards Huddersfield and follow this road for approximately 1 mile. At the roundabout take the second exit (A62 Leeds Road). Proceed along the A62 towards Huddersfield following signs for the John Smith’s Stadium. After approximately 2.5 miles you will pass the Leeds Road retail park on your left. Continue along the A62. At the next set of lights turn left onto Southgate. Get into the middle lane, following the signs for the University. You will pass Sainsbury’s on your left, keep right at the fork and go straight across the roundabout, following signs for the Ring Road. The entrance to the Queensgate car park will be approximately 100 yards on the left.

* Please note there are three junctions off the M62 to Huddersfield. We have suggested Jct 25 as the easiest to find us.

By Train

The University is a 10 minute walk from Huddersfield Train Station. On the day, we’ll have a Student Ambassador at the station to welcome you and point you in the right direction. They’ll be wearing an orange t-shirt, so you’ll be able to identify them.

Come out of the Railway Station and walk straight across the square. Turn right by Lala’s Restaurant onto John William Street. Walk straight ahead until you come to the pedestrian crossing (Lloyds/TSB directly ahead). Go straight ahead on the crossing to New Street (Nat West on the right). Turn left onto King Street (Cafe Nero on the left). Continue straight onto King Street (M & S and Boots on the right). Turn right after WH Smith onto Queen Street (Lawrence Batley Theatre will be on the left as you walk along. Continue to the end of the road. Cross the road at the crossing. Continue straight ahead. You have arrived. There will be Student Ambassadors (in their orange t-shirts) to direct you to the check in desk for Open Day at the entrance to the University.

There is also a free town bus that stops outside the train station and outside the University. Our Student Ambassadors will be able to point you in the right direction or further information can be found on the West Yorkshire Metro website

TransPennine Express offer tickets from any UK train station and don't charge an online booking fee. Bookings can be made on the TransPennine Express website

By Bus

The University is a 7 minute walk from Huddersfield Bus Station.

Come out of the main entrance of the Bus Station and turn left. Turn right onto Dundas Street. Turn left onto Market Street (Sainsbury’s on your left) and cross the pedestrian crossing in front of Sainsbury’s. Turn right onto Cloth Hall Street (Santander Bank on your left). Continue straight onto King Street (M & S and Boots on the right). Turn right after WH Smith onto Queen Street (Lawrence Batley Theatre will be on the left as you walk along. Continue to the end of the road. Cross the road at the crossing. Continue straight ahead. You have arrived. There will be Student Ambassadors (in their orange t-shirts) to direct you to the check in desk for Open Day at the entrance to the University.

There is also a free town bus that stops outside the bus station and outside the University. Our Student Ambassadors will be able to point you in the right direction or further information can be found on the West Yorkshire Metro website

By Foot

If you are arriving to campus on foot, simply hit the directions button then type in your postcode and walking directions will be provided. Alternatively, if you are viewing this on a smart phone or tablet, you will be able to generate a map straight to your device

There is also a free town bus that stops outside the University which passes by a number of key stop off points in town including the bus and train stations. You can find more information on the West Yorkshire Metro website
