What is it?

A festival showcasing tradition and culture in many South-Asian countries. The Lunar New Year is Spring Festival in China, celebrated on the last day of the previous year (Chu Xi) and the first day of the new year (Chu Yi). The Lunar New Year festival is known as Tet in Vietnam and Seollal in South Korea. It is traditionally a time during which families are expected to gather and celebrate.

How to get involved?

Our students and international student societies host Lunar New Year Festivities on campus throughout the day and the Chinese Spring Festival Gala (hosted by the Chinese Society) in the evening both on and off the campus. Please message the Campus Events team (campusevents@hud.ac.uk) with your ideas and ways to get involved in one of the biggest events at the University. The celebration is open to anyone on campus to get involved.

The University's Chinese, Hong Kong, Malaysian and Vietnamese Student Societies hosted Spring Festival celebrations on campus to welcome in the Year of the Rooster.
