Wetland management and sustainable livelihoods in Africa

18:00 - 20:00, 21 February 2018

At Oastler Building

A Public Lecture by Dr Alan Dixon (University of Worcester)

Many wetlands throughout Africa provide critically important ecosystem services that benefit local people’s livelihoods and the wider environment. However, unprecedented levels of population growth, socio-economic change and the impacts of climate change, are increasingly threatening the sustainability of their benefits. Drawing on recent field research, this lecture examines ways in which policy-makers and local people are responding to various pressures on wetlands, and how capacity for resilient, adaptive and sustainable wetland management practices can be developed.

Please note new venue - this lecture takes place in the Oastler Building

The lecture begins at 6.30pm with complimentary refreshments served from 6.00pm.
