This year’s Teaching and Learning Conference, ‘Building an Academic Community: engaging our students’, aims to discuss and identify key challenges for our institution.
Keynote by Professor Liz Thomas
Liz is an independent higher education researcher and consultant as well as an expert member of the Teaching Excellence Framework panel with expertise in student retention and success and learning and teaching. Professor Thomas researches and writes about widening participation, student retention and success and learning and teaching and has been involved in research commissioned by the Office for Fair Access, National Union of Students and the Higher Education Academy including the What works? Student retention and success change programme.
Conference workshops and sessions
Following the keynote, delegates can choose from a number of workshops and sessions showcasing practice from staff and students across the University on how they are working to develop engaging teaching and learning that improve student educational outcomes as well as satisfaction and retention.
In the afternoon, delegates will join with School colleagues to plan for the coming year. There will be a cross-service session led by Sue White, Director of Computing and Library Services; to enable colleagues from Services to plan how to support the agenda of teaching excellence.
Highlights from the day will be captured via graphic facilitation and this will be fed back during a plenary.
