Here at Huddersfield Business School, we pride ourselves on the placement opportunities that we offer our students. Our award winning* Employability and Placement Team is here to support you in building your employability potential and how to effectively promote your skills to employers. We have placed hundreds of students on a wide range of placements from multinational corporations to local small to medium enterprises (SMEs).
We have excellent links with many companies that are keen to recruit our students such as the NHS, Cummins, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Unilever, and PwC as well as relationships with many local employers, so you can be sure we can help place you in your ideal role. All our full-time undergraduate courses offer the option of a placement.
By undertaking a placement, you will gain valuable skills and knowledge to put you ahead in the graduate employment race. A placement will also help you to decide what kind of career you want to pursue once you have graduated. Most students have a terrific experience, returning to university much more knowledgeable and confident.
Furthermore, you might manage to secure an employment offer at your placement company, meaning you could have a guaranteed job after completing your degree or you might gain a paid part-time job while finishing your degree.
Our dedicated Employability and Placement team can provide you with one to one advice on improving your CV, preparing for interviews and psychometric tests, as well as checking your application forms and cover letters.
*Our Employability and Placements Team won the Best University Placement Service in 2021 NUE Awards.

"My role at HP includes working across multiple teams so I really feel I have hit the floor running in terms of learning new things and working with different people. I’ve learnt so much about the technology industry and the theory I have learnt in lectures has come to life in a more practical manner. This placement year has given me a great indication about the career I want moving forward, I have been very fortunate as I get the opportunity to work in not only my teams but also other peoples and so it has given me a great all-rounder view of HP as a business. I’m really enjoying my role as it showing me that I can work to straight deadlines and be able to cope with the pressure and I feel when I come back to university, I’ll be a complete different."

"I received loads of help from the Placement team, from creating and fine tuning my CV and covering letter to preparing and practicing for Assessment Centres and interviews. Doing a placement has given me a clear understand of the work that I want to go into and has really solidified my future career choice. I have also been able to identify areas that I like to work in and areas that I don’t. I feel very fortunate as I have already been offered a part time job from PPG while I am completing my final year. Hopefully, this is the start of more career opportunities to come after my graduation."
