Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA)

What are degree apprenticeships?

Degree apprenticeships are government backed programmes run in collaboration between the University and employers in a range of industries and sectors. Our aim is to combine academic theory with practical skills in order to develop the talent and specialist skills needed to help the UK economy thrive.

Degree apprenticeship programmes typically take four years to complete during which time the apprentice combines a full-time job with part-time study.

Entry requirements

Employees must be approved by the organisation, and have English and Maths at Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications.

Professional accreditation

Huddersfield Business School is an official HE Partner of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). Our CMDA courses are accredited by the CMI and mapped against the CMI level 5 standards.

Students on the Business and Management Professional suite completing the recognised modules will be eligible to apply for the CMI Level 5 award of Chartered Manager upon successful completion of their Honours Degree.

About the courses

We offer flexible learning opportunities through block delivery and/or weekly attendance by day release (subject to availability). Apprentices will combine work with learning through an integrative work-based learning approach. Assessment builds upon this approach and may combine, for example, learning portfolios, team/individual presentations and work-based projects in addition to more traditional assessments such as essays.

Employers may also choose to focus on specific aspects of leadership and management, notably business management and finance, business management and HR or business and supply chain management through nominated routes.

At the end of the apprenticeship students will achieve a full bachelor’s degree qualification.

Advantages of a degree apprenticeship

  • Inject fresh ideas and creativity into the organisation with ambitious students
  • Work in partnership with the University to tailor the programme to meet your business needs
  • Develop and progress new and existing staff for sustainable growth
  • Access Government funding for a cost effective way to up-skill your workforce
  • Flexible study options to work around your organisations commitments
  • Degree apprentices can offer added value and return on investment as they continue to bring their learning and skills back to the organisation during the programme.
