There’s no shortage of places to shop in Huddersfield. The town centre has a range of high street shops such as River Island, Primark, Topshop and H&M. There’s also a great mix of smaller independent retailers where you can find something really unique. Kingsgate and the recently renovated Packhorse Centre are a great starting point. There are some great unique shopping experiences like Byram Arcade, the indoor and outdoor market where you can pick up some great bargains.

Whether it’s clothes, food or household essentials, you can find everything you need in Huddersfield no matter what your budget. Here’s some top tips on places to shop whether you’re watching the pennies or feeling flush.

Essentials

For kitting out your new student house, there’s no shortage of options. If you want to save the pennies head to Wilko’s where you’ll find everything you need from kettles, to rugs to all the cleaning equipment you are going to need! Poundland, Poundworld and Home Bargains are also great for essential items too.

Something a little different

Head to Upmarket Sunday at the Open Market on the second Sunday of every month for locally produced fashion, hand-made crafts and food if you fancy something a little different.

Feeling flush

Food

Look out for supermarket discounts and delivery deals on your first online food shop. You can find affordable prices at Lidl, Aldi, B&M Bargains, Poundland, Poundworld and Home Bargains too.

Clothes

If you feel like splashing the cash, Kingsgate Shopping Centre is home to House of Fraser, River Island, Topshop, Next, New Look, H&M and TK Maxx. Don’t forget to use your student card for those handy discounts.

Entertainment

If you want something to occupy you, shops for entertainment are not in short supply. There’s W.H. Smiths, Game, Waterstones and Vinyl Tap, or if you want to save or make some money head to CEX where you can buy or sell.
