Nights out

Written by Callum, Jake and Andy

Whether you want to let loose and celebrate, wind-down and chill or soak up some culture, there’s something for everyone in Huddersfield. And the best part is that it's all right on your doorstep.

Bars

Music

If you just feel like kicking back and hanging out with your new flatmates, head to The Warehouse. With plenty of drinks on tap and a wide variety of food, as well as a wonderfully chilled out atmosphere, The Warehouse is the perfect student hang out.

Clubbing

Popular nights out

If you’re into partying then Camel Club truly is the place to be. For those who like to get down on the dance floor, Camel Club has different music theme nights to suit everyone’s taste from classic rock anthems and 90s smash hits to electro pop.

Laser Tag

Alternative nights out

Get a group of mates together for a fun day out at Laser Tag – call it pay back for when your housemate used the last of your milk!

Cinema

Something more low key?

Unsure of where to see the latest action blockbuster or chick flick? Right next door to the John Smith’s sports stadium is the Odeon, Huddersfield’s home of popcorn and rom coms. The HudMovies society also hosts regular free movie screenings for students on campus.

Eating out

Organised events

You’ll be spoilt for choice for places to eat. There are well-known high-street restaurants like The Slug and Lettuce, Nandos and Pizza Hut or if you’re looking for something different, sample some Caribbean cuisine at Turtle Bay (www.turtlebay.co.uk) on Kingsgate.

Music

Chilled nights out

Open mic and acoustic nights regularly take place at Bar 1:22 – a live music venue and bar that hosts weekly music events ranging from reggae nights to open mic nights where anyone can get on stage and show their hidden talent.
