International Students

We understand that living and studying in a foreign country can be a daunting prospect. But there’s no need to worry, we offer a friendly and confidential service which includes information, help and assistance with a wide range of issues, from immigration advice to faith and health issues – remember your welfare is our top priority. In addition, if you want to find a part-time job to  supplement your finances (a great way of getting to know the local inhabitants) our careers services are happy to help. They can also advise on working in the UK once students have graduated.

Entry requirements

For undergraduate entry, Huddersfield welcomes a wide variety of qualifications:

China

University/College Entrance Examination (Gaokao).

France

Baccalauréat with overall score of 12.

Germany

Abitur with overall score of at least 2.5.

Hong Kong

Two A-level passes at E or above and three HKCEE at D or above.

India

Standard XII award (ie HSSC) awardedby CBSE, CISCE or Metro state boards.

Libya

Higher Technician Diploma.

Saudi Arabia

Associate Degree, College of Technology Diploma.

Taiwan

Junior College Diploma.

Thailand

Associate Degree/Diploma in Vocational Education.

If you are not quite qualified the University offers the International Foundation Year and the International Diploma, and successful completion guarantees direct entry to Year 1 or Year 2 respectively.

If English is not your first language, you must have a recognised qualification:

  • 6.0 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
  • 80 in TOEFL iBT

However, if you need to improve your English you can choose from our pre-sessional and in-sessional English programmes that run throughout the year.

Scholarships

Our extensive scholarship programme has been designed to assist well-qualified international students who would like to study at Huddersfield. In fact we’ll consider all self-funded international students with overseas status who wish to apply for undergraduate study. Scholarships are awarded on academic merit and are applicable for all years of study.
