Tuition fees for students in 2012

Fees fair: Education priceless - £7,950 tuition fees for students starting in 2012

Along with universities across the country, we are having to increase our tuition fees to compensate for the significant cuts in direct University funding being brought in by the Government. If you are due to start with us in September 2012 and you are a UK or EU undergraduate student, your tuition fee will be £7,950, subject to agreement by the Office of Fair Access. If you choose to take a placement year during your course, and where one is available we really recommend that you do, then we will charge just £500 for that year, simply to cover our admin costs.

So why have we decided to set our fee at £7,950? It is because we want to set a fee level that strikes a balance between compensating for government cuts and being fair to you. As such, we’ve decided not to set the highest fee of £9,000 because we don’t need to. Image of a Did you know? information box - We're one of the UK's five most financial sustainable universities

Our fee of £7,950 partially compensates for the amount of funding we are losing from the Government. So we’ll still be able to provide you with a top notch education, first class facilities and prepare you for the world of work, without saddling you with unnecessary debt. In short, we are setting fair fees and you get a priceless education.

Please remember - University is a fantastic investment in your future, with graduates on average earning £12,000 per year more than non-graduates over their working lifetimes. Graduates are also half as likely to be unemployed, and twice as likely to find work again quickly if they are.

And remember, you don’t pay anything while you are studying. Tuition fee loans are available to both full-time and part-time undergraduate students, and repayments only start once your annual income is more than £21,000 a year. In fact, even when you start earning £25,000 you’ll only be paying back at a rate of £1 a day, which is less than a cup of coffee (click on thumb image below to see our cup of coffee video)

There are three important things to remember about tuition fees.

ONE Students don’t pay while studying.

TWO You’ll only pay when you’ve graduated.

THREE You only start paying once your annual income is over £21,000 a year.

Please remember:

Allow plenty of time to apply for your tuition fee loan, as your funding needs to be in place before you start your course. See the Financial support page for further information.
