Technology Enhanced Learning Research Group

Introduction

The research group is formed from a group of academic staff and postgraduate students who are interested in exploring the role of digital technologies in improving the quality of learning and teaching. It is based in the School of Education and Professional Development and welcomes others working in this area from across the University.

We take a broad approach to the topic focusing on a range of aspects of the way that technology is used to support and enhance learning within all educational settings.

Themes of particular interest include;

  • teaching with technology (attributes, skills, values, beliefs associated with online teaching)
  • learners’ experiences of using technology
  • particular technologies and their application to learning eg social networking, blogging, wikis
  • the instructional aspects of innovating with technology for learning
  • cultural Historical Activity Theory, CHAT
  • ethno methodology
  • narratives

Our aim is to develop and support a culture of research into technology enhanced learning based on a sound theoretical and academic basis.

We organise a termly seminar programme which is publicised within the School and to other members of the University with an interest in technology enhanced learning.
