Introduction Back Fashion and Textiles is a lively innovative and progressive area, sourcing exciting design and performance products internationally. Graduates wishing to work in fashion/textile retailing,buying and management, where the benefits of innovation, design, new materials and new technology are being realised, need a very different blend of skills. This new group of three inter-related courses will provide you with these new and unique blend of skills giving you exciting employment opportunities. The group of courses have the first two years in common and provide you with the fundamental skills and knowledge of Retailing, Buying and Management related to fashion and textiles. During the final year you can choose the subject area you wish to specialise in. Study of these subjects before enrolling on the course is not necessary but an enthusiasm for fashion and textiles is desirable.
The three new courses will : Explain the links between retailing, design and manufacture of fashion and textile products Give you the skill to succeed in a career in fashion and textile retailing, buying or management Provide you with an understanding of the importance of international sourcing of fashion and textile products Explain the importance of the dynamic role of management in the changing world of fashion and textiles Enable you to understand the requirements for the successful operation of a fashion/textile business in the 21st century Provide you with excellent and diverse employment opportunities Give realistic contact with fashion and textile companies through projects, placements and guest speakers Give you an international or UK work placement option and/or an international study option
Course Structure Back
Teaching and Assessment Back Teaching and Assessment Teaching methods include studio-based design projects, workshop demonstrations, workshop practicals and lectures. A range of assessment methods is adopted to test the learning outcomes within each module. Design projects are assessed in the studios and supporting studies evaluated by group assignments, essays, oral presentations or examinations.
