Introduction Back Personal Development is encouraged through creative exploration in excellent studio, workshop and CAD facilities Opportunities to experience print,weave, knit and embroidery design before selecting a specialism UK or international full year professional work placement or international study placement in Europe or Australia International Study and Trade Fair visits to New York and Europe Graduates now employed at Next, River Island, French Connection, Nike, Burberrys, Oasis, Zara, Ted Baker, George Davies, Per Uno Core Design Skills supported by contextual and employability skills study. Sponsored projects, visiting designers and design managers The first year of the course give you the opportunity to explore your ideas through visual research, multi media studio techniques, CAD and practical workshop sessions. This is a year of exploration when many of you will discover interests and talents in areas of textiles you have not previously experienced. Our excellent studio and CAD facilitates are second to non in the United Kingdom. The second year allows you to develop skills in your specialist area where half the projects are sponsored by textile companies. An overseas visit to New York or Europe enable you to gather cultural inspiration and broaden your knowledge of international textiles. The choice of modules during your final year will determine whether your award will be a BA(Hons) or a BSc(Hons) Textiles Design degree. The course culminates in a major project for which you will write your own brief. Many graduates from this course now occupy high level positions in textiles and retailing companies. The blend of design and flexible transferable skills developed on the course will enhance your employment prospects, usually about 90% of our graduates are employed within six months of graduation. There is an opportunity to extend your study for one years to graduate with a Master of Textiles(MText) degree Course Structure Back Year 1

Teaching and Assessment Back Teaching and Assessment Teaching methods include studio-based design projects, workshop demonstrations, workshop practicals and lectures. A range of assessment methods is adopted to test the learning outcomes within each module. Design projects are assessed in the studios and supporting studies evaluated by group assignments, essays, oral presentations or examinations.
