Introduction

This research group brings together people whose research interests focus on aspects of the professions engaging in the social and informal education not only of children and young people but also of adults both as parents and in wider community contexts.

Particular themes within the group currently include:

  • aspects of professional formation across the range of professions engaging with children and young people
  • the history and development of work in the field
  • policy developments pertaining to the field
  • links between theory and practice and the inculcation of reflective practice in professionals-in-training

The group has education as its ideological and epistemological foundation whilst sharing many interests with Human and Health’s Centre for Applied Childhood Studies.
