CeReNeM Centre for Research in New Music

CeReNeM is a community of world-leading artists and scholars who bring interdisciplinary perspectives to research in contemporary composition, performance, music technology, improvisation and sonic media. CeReNeM hosts a vibrant postgraduate programme with 50 Masters and PhD students from 18 different countries.

CeReNeM has outstanding facilities such as the HISS and SPIRAL studios; curates a programme of concerts with artists and ensembles in residence including Apartment House, Bozzini Quartet and the ELISION Ensemble; has partnerships with Electric Spring and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, the British Music Collection and Sound & Music; publishes HCR CDs, Divergence Press and the CeReNeM Journal; and directs the ‘Sources of Creativity’ International Lecture Series in collaboration with, amongst others, Université de Montréal (CIRMMT), National University of Singapore (Yong Siew Toh Conservatory & IDMI), Harvard, Cornell and Monash Universities.‌
