Introduction

Pharmacy is a multidisciplinary subject and our research programmes range from target validation and drug design, to formulation and delivery, through to clinical evaluation and medicines management.

Research within this group is focused around the following three key areas:

• Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery
• Pharmacology
• Clinical Pharmaceutics in Practice

Many aspects of our research are carried out in a multidisciplinary way, enabling close and fruitful interdisciplinary collaboration between staff within the group, other groups within the research institute and in collaboration with other academic institutions, with NHS institutions and industrial collaborators.

An important element of our work is that it is clinically and pharmaceutically relevant. The effective medicinal therapy of many illnesses is challenging, because the route of administration, the drug or the condition is challenging and we have the expertise to address all of these.

Our aim is to promote the development of novel medication to treat difficult conditions. We aim to build on the established expertise we already have in our group and extend our capabilities and networks further.
