Welcome to the Employability Challenge

Employability Challenge is a project that has been set up to help students at University Campus Oldham (UCO) gain a greater understanding of what employers are looking for once they graduate.

UCO has linked up with many local and regional employers who are keen to pass their knowledge and experiences to students at the University and hopefully give them a helping hand when it comes to finding employment once they graduate.

Working with employers such as the Co-operative Bank, Voluntary Action Oldham, Greater Manchester Police and Oldham council, students will be able to attend sessions that are relevant to their chosen subject area.

Each employer tackles the session in a different way – from work shadowing to public lectures, mentoring to small group work, every session provides UCO students with the opportunity to tap into professionals who are out there delivering results.

The project currently has 11 employers involved and students are invited or can apply to attend the sessions being put on by the employers.

Employability Challenge will ask employers to tell us where they think the gaps in skills and knowledge exist, and then challenge them to make a contribution towards closing the gaps through engagement with student groups across campus

Find out more information about the session and check out if there are any events that you would like to attend.

The project has already been featured in the local press and it is hoped that it will continue to grow as more employers recognise the benefits of working directly with our students.
