Teaching began on 29th September in the brand new, state-of-the-art Creative Arts Building. The new facilities include four ‘smart classroom’ lecture halls outfitted with the latest educational A/V hardware and software, three computer labs, 26 practice rooms, four chamber ensemble & pop group rehearsal rooms, two large piano practice rooms, two percussion practice rooms, organ practice room and early music studio. The new concert hall seats 120 and houses a newly-acquired concert organ and recording studio. Additionally, Huddersfield now hosts one of the largest university music technology facilities in Europe, with 16 world-class, single-user computer composition and recording studios; four 25-seat teaching labs; and a cutting-edge, SRIF-funded experimental research studio for sound spatialisation.
