The philosophy of Grist is to place emerging writers alongside established writers in order to raise their profile and help them establish the first step to becoming professional writers. With this in mind we have poets Simon Armitage, Ian Mcmillan and Lemn Sissay and prose writers Helen Simpson and John Boyne (author of the Boy in The Striped Pyjamas) who have all kindly donated poems and stories for the collection. The book will feature over twenty new poets and nearly twenty short fiction writers alongside these famous names. The book will be given away free to all libraries, HE institutions and registered Creative Writing groups in the country, making this a unique publishing venture. Grist does not need to consider commercial pressures so we are free to do things differently.
