Business Consultant, Netsoft Group

"To start off, I had a bit of a hard time whilst I was pursuing my studies.  Being a fresh graduate from India in Statistics and Maths, coping with Business and IT studies was never easy and I also had some health issues.

"It’s now three years since I graduated and I’m associated with reputable organizations and multinational brands like Microsoft. Getting a job in the UK was never easy for myself or my Indian compatriots – however, I used to regularly visit the Careers Service help desk for CV check on Thursdays and the guys there helped me to mould my resumé to catch the attention of recruiters.  Thanks to this I secured a job in Capita, in the Top 5 FTSE 100 companies in the UK.

"After a while I sensed there was a lot of immigration rules changing so I took a decision to return to India. Prior to my departure I hunted for jobs online and had an offer in hand even before I touched Indian soil.  My Uni studies and the “real-world” experience with Capita have given me a head start in the race for new endeavours and challenges!

"University helped prepare me in corporate essentials like brainstorming, presentations & conferences and these all now seem like a piece of cake.  My critical and problem solving skills were honed and developed during my studies as well.

"After six months of working in  India offers started flooding in and I accepted sponsorship from a Middle-East based company.  I’ve been working with the Netsoft Group since then and have been part of  Distribution, Retail, Manufacturing, Construction, Projects  and Trading business models suggesting solutions for complex problems.  My life is  “on wheels” BUT I’m enjoying every moment especially lunch with CEOs and CFOs and board room debates.

"As said by Steve Jobs, 'Don’t settle' is the key, So I m not settling for this and I’m ambitious to be part of McKinsey, Boston Consulting or Ernst & Young soon as an Management consultant.

"Hope to see you around some time and proud to be an alumnus of Huddersfield."

CEO, iLead Media

"After completing my A Levels from Notre Dame College in Leeds, I was seeking a web development degree course. Finally, I found eCommerce degree in only two Universities and Huddersfield was chosen after researching for quality Computing schools and my interview with the then course director, Professor David Taylor. This course was newly set up and it makes it special for me as I was the student on the first batch of this course and was also elected president of the Pakistani Students’ Society for three consecutive years.

"I spent three years in Huddersfield and enjoyed every single day of it. The lecturers were highly co-operative, students came from diverse backgrounds and the city provided safe and quality environment for studies and leisure. I spent most of my times in the lecture theatres, in the library, University gymnasium and computer labs that were open 24 hours a day.

"I went on to complete an MSc from Manchester Business School and recently completed EMBA from Lancaster Business School. Huddersfield University provided me with a strong base for the core skills required for further education and also the practical knowledge and approach that was required during my six years of work experience in the UK.

"After studies and six years of work experience, I moved back to Lahore, my home town, in October 2010 to set up iLead Media, my own web development business.  During the twelve years of my life in UK, I can surely say that the three years at the Huddersfield University not just provided me quality IT skills and knowledge but helped me gain friends for life."

Studied: BSc (Hons) eCommerce and Multimedia

"Getting any sort of degree from a reputable university of UK can always enhance your expertise to take on the challenges of life in the 'real world'.

"After completing a bachelors degree from Karachi Institue of Information Technology (KIIT) in Pakistan which was then affiliated with University of Huddersfield, I decided to choose University of Huddersfield for the master's programme without any hesitation.

"Being well aware of the faculty and educational programme, I did not have any problem adjusting with the environment. Huddersfield is a beautiful place with friendly people of various cultures and a calm environment.  The University itself offers a great deal of understanding between students and tutors alongwith the facilities of well-equipped computer labs and an extended library.

"I am currently serving Pakistan's leading Bank as a Business Intelligence Analyst. I’ve been working in this industry right after going back to Pakistan in 2007.

"Studying at Huddersfield has help me gain knowledge and achieve efficiency in my field!"
