Tuition fee deposits

What is the purpose of the tuition fee deposit?

All applicants to full-time, on campus courses who are classified as ‘self-funded’ and are not sponsored by a government or other organisation will be asked to pay a tuition fee deposit as a condition of their offer. This is to reassure the UK Border Agency that you are a genuine student, with the sufficient funds to commence studies in the UK.

If my visa application is refused will you refund my deposit?

Yes, of course. However, the University is a Highly Trusted Sponsor (HTS) with the UK Border Agency (UKBA) and it is very rare that our students have their visa applications refused. The most common reason is that they do not show the correct amount of money in their bank account, so make sure that you do.

Can I get a discount on my tuition fees?

A 5% discount on tuition fees will be allowed in the case of self-funded international students who pay their fees by a designated date in advance of the commencement of their courses.

Deadline dates are:

  • For students enrolling in September - 31 August 2012 (allow for August Bank Holiday weekend)
  • For students enrolling in January - 30 December 2012 (note the University is closed from Christmas Eve until after New Year)

Please note that the fee discount will be applied after any Scholarship has been deducted.  If there is any doubt regarding the amount you need to pay, please contact Student Finance on +44 (0) 1484 472210 or e-mail: income.section@hud.ac.uk
