A number of events are arranged for candidates who have registered on a module programme. In addition to the test sessions we run a series of lunchtime seminars which are repeated at regular intervals. An e-mail list has been set up so candidates can communicate easily with each other to ask questions or make suggestions as well as enabling the centre to pass information to candidates. To send a message to the list, address your message to ECDLA Candidates.
A module has been set up in Blackboard (opens in a new window) to help you with your ECDL studies. As a registered Advanced ECDL Candidate you are registered to use the ECDL Advanced module in Blackboard. In this module you can find workbooks and practise files and join in discussions about the modules and the Advanced ECDL generally. Click here to enter Blackboard. If you have problems logging in you should contact the Staff IT Help Desk, extn 3737.
Testing for the ECDLA is carried out in the I.T. Training room on level 7 of the Central Services Building. Attendance is required at least 10 minutes before the start of a test session. Any member of staff registered on our ECDLA programme may book a test session using the ECDLA Test Request booking form. The cost of each test is £10. Cost centre details and budget holder’s siganature should be entered on the test request form.
All tests must be booked at least 10 working days in advance. At least 10 working days' notice of cancellation or changes must be given. In the event of late cancellation or non-attendance the test fee will not be refunded.
Instructions to candidates are included in the ECDLA Registration Pack. Each test session is scheduled for 60 minutes. A maximum of 8 candidates will be allowed to book on any test session and candidates will be expected to report to the test waiting room at least 10 minutes before the start of a test.
It is important to inform the invigilator, at the time of the examination, of any problems with the examination conditions. Candidates should note that there is an Examination Appeals Procedure which can be invoked by a candidate unhappy with any other aspect of the assessment and award process.

As an ECDLA candidate you are invited to the lunch time seminars that we shall be hosting throughout the ECDLA programme. Each seminar will cover the syllabus and candidates will have the opportunity to find out how they can learn about any unfamiliar topic areas. At the seminars you will also get to know others who are currently working on the same module as you.
Each seminar will take place in the SDG Training room (opposite the I.T. Training room) on level 7 of the Central Services Building from 12:30 to 13:30. Although formal booking is not required, it would help us to know approximate numbers. If you are planning to attend one of these sessions please let Liz Cussans (2955) or Ruth Pearson (2955) know.
