IRISH LINKS

I would appreciate it if anyone could e-mail me (Noel Gilzean) with information about sites that could be included on this page.

IrishDiaspora Studies

A web-site maintained by Patrick O'Sullivan at the University of Bradford. It is worth reading his introduction to Irish Diaspora Studies and the debate he introduces between Irish Studies and Irish Diaspora Studies..

Could be an excellent site. Already very useful Excellent bibliography

Irish and Irish Immigration Studies at Southern Illinois

A useful site at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, some good links to other Irish sites. Particularly useful is the bulletin board for requests for information about Irish immigration. This bulletin board contains some useful URLs such as the wall at Ellis Islandwhere you can find useful information about immigrants. Did you know there were 29 Patrick O'Sullivans or Sullivans, 3 James McAuleys and no Noel Gilzeans on the wall of honour, so it goes.

Irish & Irish Immigration Studies BBS

And here is the Bulletin Board at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

The Institute of Irish Studies

The home page of the Institute of Irish Studies. Still under construction, but contains some interesting links. Such as the Irland Journal this online journal is written in German for those of you who need help translating the text you could try AltavistaTranslation Service the results are somewhat strange.

NYU Irish Studies Program

Mainly a description of the course and activities of the NYU Irish Studies Program some useful links.

Soc. for the Study of 19th-Cent. Ireland

"The purpose of the Society is to promote research into Nineteenth-Century Ireland. Its membership is open to scholars both from Ireland and other countries. Maintained by Dr. Leon Litvack, School of English, Queen's Univ. of Belfast.

Thomas Archdeacon University of Wisconsin History Department

A comprehensive set of links to projects and data. For those of us in Europe this site like most US sites is best accessed before the US wakes up.

Page maintained by Angela McCarthy currently researching the Irish in New Zealand at Trinity College Dublin. Useful bibliography about the Irish in New Zealand.

Dianes Page About Ireland

Not an academic site but a wonderful collection of links.
