The University annually awards a number of prizes and awards to Postgraduate research students in recognition of research excellence.
This prize is granted in recognition of an excellent doctoral level degree thesis that passes examination without any form of correction and is supported by the candidate's main supervisor.
The prize comes with a congratulatory letter from the Vice-Chancellor and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research & Enterprise) and a cash award of £100.

This prize us granted annually to a postgraduate researcher who has excelled in some significant manner or has had a major research achievement during their period of study eg high quality journal publications, conference presentations, research spin off, awards, contribution to the research community, novel experimental or theoretical technique, major research breakthrough.
The winner is announced during the Research Festival and receives a cheque for £500 and a certificate.
