Dr Tatyana Karpenko-Seccombe is an English Language Lecturer in Research and Enterprise. She completed both her MA in Language Studies and her doctorate in Linguistics at Lancaster University. She has taught English to non-English speakers for about 20 years and since 2010 has been teaching English for academic purposes to international research students at the University of Huddersfield.
Tatyana teaches both individual and group classes for international research students who need support with their written and oral English. There is a variety of courses and workshops to help students at various stages of their research, for example – Academic Writing Style, Sentence Structure, Presentation Skills, Academic Vocabulary, Writing Introductions, Writing Literature Reviews, Writing Abstracts and many others. There are also opportunities to discuss writing in one-to-one tutorials or to ask quick questions in drop-in sessions.

Elizabeth is a student in the School of Education and Professional Development studying for an EdD. Elizabeth works part-time to deliver a training programme for all researchers at the University. This includes an induction programme for all newly enrolled postgraduate research students three times a year as well as face-to-face generic skills training.
