The Graduate Centre

Welcome to the University of Huddersfield Graduate Centre

The Graduate Centre ensures that your research career at Huddersfield fulfils your needs and expectations, equips you for a successful future, and enables you to make the very most of the postgraduate opportunity that you have. It provides both intellectual and social contact between postgraduate researchers of different disciplines and from different backgrounds and countries. The Graduate Centre is here to help you to make rewarding contacts outside the close confines of the laboratory or the library, whether within Huddersfield or outside in the wider world. We look after your interests through codes of practice which set out clearly the standards you can expect from the University, but also the standards that the University expects from you. Through training courses, seminars and inter-disciplinary programmes we encourage postgraduate researchers to look beyond the boundaries of their chosen discipline, as well as promoting the sharing and broadening of knowledge across disciplines, through societies and competitions.

The Graduate Centre provides support in the form of a number of scholarships as well as access to funds for research trips and participation in conferences. We also offer funds for exeptional output research impact, intellectual climate and public engagement. In addition we offer the opportunity for postgraguate research students to learn a language including, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish and British Sign Language. We are here to give help and advice on any issues that may arise during your time as a postgraduate researcher at the University of Huddersfield - to help and support , as well as to celebrate your successes.

The Graduate Centre has both a physical and a virtual presence. For face to face contact we operate an open door policy: you are always welcome to visit us in our offices which are situated on Level 10 of the Central Services Building. This virtual presence is constantly under development so please check regularly for updates!

Your research may open up opportunities for you to start your own business after completing your studies. Throughout your time here our Business Mine offers a range of events for you to attend and opportunities to explore if running your own business is something of interest to you. It also provides the opportunity to meet others who have made a success of their business. If you decide to go ahead you can work with our mentors and Business Mine staff whilst you develop your business idea and subsequently start trading.
