Part-time and Fixed term Workers

Part-time and fixed term employees have the same statutory employment rights as other employees.  You do not have to work a minimum number of hours to qualify for employment rights.

Legislation

The Part-time Workers (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations 2000

These Regulations make it unlawful for part-time workers to be treated less favourably than full-time workers.

The Fixed-term Employees (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations 2002

These Regulations are designed to prevent fixed-term employees being treated less favourably than similar permanent employees, and to limit the use of successive fixed term contracts.
