What’s it about?

Youth and community work is an exciting yet demanding career encouraging young people to develop as individuals and as members of groups through informal educational activities. It’s also about young people in their communities and wider society. Our course includes full-time pre-service and part-time in-service routes to Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) recognised qualifications for people who already have a degree.

This course provides you with the relevant knowledge base and appropriate theory-based skills founded on strong underlying principles and values.

Be in demand

The course is recognised as a professional qualification to work in the youth and community sector meaning you will be in demand once you graduate. The University of Huddersfield has extremely strong links with organisations such as the local authority, youth services, young offenders teams and community centres and these links help to provide real live experience whilst you study on your course.

One of the advantages of the course is that it leads to a vocational qualification as well as an Honours degree which means you’ll be able to seek employment in a wide range of statutory and voluntary agencies and institutions.
