Courses & Admissions
The Modern Languages Centre provides learning opportunities from beginner to advanced levels. Classes (modules) last for an academic year and are designed to appeal to a wide range of people.
- Students on joint degree courses with a language as the minor subject study two modules per year, progressing from level to level on an annual basis.
- Students who choose a language as an optional module within their degree course can decide at the end of the year whether to continue or change option the following year (you should check with your course tutor for specific details relating to your course).
- Students whose degree does not permit the study of a language option, or who prefer to study their language outside their degree, can register with us independently upon payment of an additional charge for the classes.
- People who are not otherwise students at the university can enroll for one module and then decide whether to continue to the next module the year after. You do not have to be enrolled on a degree course at the university to join our language classes.
Our modules are designed to build your understanding of the language and your ability to communicate more fluently and accurately. They provide you with the practical skills you’ll need in everyday situations and develop your knowledge and understanding of the countries in which the language is spoken.
The following languages are offered although the range varies periodically so you should contact the Co-ordinator for the latest situation. Click here for details of the modules offered in each language.
