What’s it about?

We offer two Master’s degrees: a Master of Architecture MArch and Sustainable Architecture MSc. The aim of our Master of Architecture MArch course is to prepare you for the world of architectural practice and to encourage reflection and maturity in your thinking. The course helps you to manage the design process and develop a high degree of sensitivity to the context within which design work is undertaken in social, cultural and technological terms. Although design is the core activity, the course also encourages development of specialist expertise in other areas including applications of sustainability. Our Sustainable Architecture MSc was created to meet the needs of construction professionals who wanted to develop expert knowledge of sustainable architecture and construction. It is generally not a design course, but investigates the application of technologies and design strategies. The course welcomes applications from all built environment and related disciplines. The underlying philosophy of all our Master’s level study is one of responsiveness and appropriateness. The creation of new buildings and places or the manipulation of existing environments must be holistic, highly contextual and environmentally responsible. Our graduates are forward looking, inventive and pragmatic.
