This course is designed to provide you with the further learning required by the Engineering Council for BEng(Hons) graduates to meet the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer status.
The course is suitable for graduates from a range of engineering disciplines - mechanical, manufacturing and engineering systems, or a closely related science discipline.
It is recognised that you will enter the course from a range of undergraduate courses, therefore the course provides a balance of technical deepening, technical broadening and management. A substancial project will be undertaken that will allow you to develop your own particular interests within a broad area of mechanical engineering.
The project may be sourced from one of our five research groups under the umbrella of the Centre for Precision Technology (CPT). The Centre has an international reputation and collaborates with many international companies such as Siemens, Cincinnati, DST, MAZAK, Zeiss, OSAI, Renishaw, BAe, Rolls Royce, GKN, Micor Metalsmiths and Kistler.

Our Master's courses normally take three years to complete. We recognise the pressures on busy part-time students and professionals, so we offer interim awards of Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma - this means that you can usually exit with a qualification after one or two years.
This course is designed to prepare you for a career as a Chartered Engineer within a broad range of mechanical and manufacturing industries. Employers of our graduates have included Ford, Siemans and Shell.
The course is taught principally through lectures, tutorials and assignments using industry standard software and mechanical facilities.
Assessment methods reflect the emphasis of the course on the ability to apply knowledge and skills, and are diversely based upon examination, assignment, project work and research/laboratory activities.
Here at the University of Huddersfield, we continue to work hard to ensure that we set a fee for postgraduate students that is fair and offers you value for money. The tuition fees for postgraduate taught courses will cover the cost of your study at the University as well as charges for registration, tuition, supervision and examinations. For more information about funding, fees and finance, please see Fees and finance.
You can sign up to iHud here to make sure you receive our 2013 fee information as soon as it is published.
