Prof. Steve Donnelly - DeanProfessor Steve Donnelly joined the School from the University of Salford in early 2011 to take up the post of Head of Engineering and Technology and has most recently been appointed as Dean in April 2012. Steve's research revolves around the interaction of energy particles with matter; an area that has relevance to materials for space, the semiconductor industry and particularly to the nuclear industry because it will help decide the materials used for the construction of the next generation of reactors. |

Dr Rupert Ward - Head of InformaticsA graduate of the University of Manchester, Dr Rupert Ward comes from a varied academic background which includes research in atomic physics and work across a variety of educational sectors including sixth form, further and higher education. He has a keen interest in developing higher education in Africa where he has undertaken a number of consultancy and training roles and he is currently working on a series of initiatives to develop this interest further and to assist in fostering greater links between UK and African higher education. |

Dr Jonathan Wakefield - Head of Engineering and TechnologyDr Jonathan Wakefield has been a Senior Lecturer in Music Technology since 2001, he became Subject Area Leader in 2005 and has most recently been appointed as Head of Department for Engineering and Technology from January 2012. Since 2003 Jonathan has mainly been involved in course development and academic management. He has trebled the number of students studying Music Technology and Production within the Subject Area, developed resources to support the increased student numbers, trebled the Music Technology facilities (at an approx cost of £1.5 million) and more than trebled the number of specialist Music Technology staff. Following on from his successes as Subject Area Leader, Jonathan has also recently reignited his research career. |
