Career action plan

Once you have completed a self-assessment and started to make some career decisions then you are ready to complete an action plan to help you to pursue your career goals.

What if I do not have a chosen career in mind yet?

Please note that you do not neccessarily have to have a career in mind to complete an action plan, your action plan might be to explore your career options further and gain some experience to try out different careers for example.

Career action plan

A career action plan will help you to manage the transition from education to work and allow you to map out the steps you need to take.

Points to consider when creating your action plan, these could be actions that you need to complete as a part of your action plan:

  • Your action plan can be amended over time as your career goals change throughout your career.
  • Are you aware of the options with your degree?
  • Do you know what recruiters/ course providers are looking for in potential applicants?
  • Are you aware of relevant application deadlines?
  • Can you meet the entry requirements? If the answer is no at the moment, then what do you need to do to ensure you have the correct skills and experience? Fill in any skills and experience gaps
  • Are you confident that you will be able to market yourself effectively throughout the application process?
