 Student social events programme 2012 

"Hi, my name is Marketa and I am the University Campus Events Coordinator. I am a Master's student, but you will also find me working in the Students’ Union.

"This year I will be working with the University and the Student’s Union to develop a full programme of events on campus for students and staff. If you also have any ideas of events you would like to put on and involve all our students then all please contact me to discuss."

16 May: Jubilee Public Lecture 'The Beefeaters and British History'

23 May: Trip to Whitby, North Yorkshire
Come with us to visit one of the most picturesque ports in England, Whitby and its harbour are set in a ravine at the mouth of the River Esk.
Tickets available from the I-Zone in the Students' Union. They are priced at £10. The coach departs from Wakefield Road at 8:30am.

23 May: Jubilee Public Lecture 'Computers and Creativity'
with Dr. Steve Wade. Details to follow...

30 May: Alton Towers
Tickets are now available to buy from the i-zone in the Students' Union. Tickets priced £35 each which include travel and entry into the theme park! For further info speak to Lianne or Diane at the International Office desk in the Student Centre.

2 June: Mumford and Sons (Live)
Brit Award winners have chosen Huddersfield as their only UK venue for a special outdoor show on their international tour at Greenhead Park. Tickets £49.50 from Lawrence Batley Theatre, HMV.

5 August: Jamaica Independence Festival 50
The island nation of Jamaica gained independence from Britain 50 years ago this year. On August 5, 2012, on what could be our proudest day yet Huddersfield will celebrate Jamaica's 50th anniversary of independence in style. More details on their website.
