Student and Graduate Talent

We believe in excellence in education and equip our students with the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need to meet with confidence the requirements of work and society in the 21st Century.

Our students are one of our greatest resources and there are a number of ways in which your organisation can meet, work with and recruit our talented students and graduates.

Meeting our students

"The fair provided an excellent opportunity to engage with a high number of students who had a predominant interest in (our) career opportunities".  ACCA

Careers Fairs: Raise your company profile on campus by attending careers events throughout the academic year. This is your opportunity to promote your part-time, placement and graduate vacancies and meet your prospective employees face to face.

Workshops: Have a hand in developing your graduate talent for the future by working alongside careers staff to deliver employability skills workshops on campus.

Presentations: Attract students to your organisation and promote your opportunities by hosting a presentation on campus, this can be arranged for all student groups or for specific disciplines. The Employer Services Team will be happy to organise a room and facilities.

Interviewing: Conduct interviews on campus, either informal information interviews or part of your recruitment and selection process, we have interview rooms available and will do our best to ensure that your needs are met.

Recruiting

"We have always had strong applications from Huddersfield University, I believe this is partly due to the quality of attention the Careers Service provides the students".  Gist, UK

There are various different ways in which you could recruit a student or graduate, whichever way you choose to engage with us, here are some of the advantages:

  • Up-to-date skills and ideas brought into your organisation at a relatively low cost.
  • Knowledge and skills and a fresh perspective that can work to your advantage.
  • With a little guidance and supervision our students can achieve phenomenal results.
  • An excellent, cost effective way of boosting your organisation's resources for an agreed period and help to build working relationships with the University.
  • An extra addition to your workforce, enabling them to work on projects you haven’t had time to work on.

Work experience: Recruiting a bright, engaged student could be your first step to building your relationship with the University. Taking on a student has many advantages, not least that you are gaining the input of someone who will be able to make a real contribution to your business.

Take a look at our web pages for more information on advertising your part-time, voluntary, vacation and work experience opportunities on Jobshop.

Student Placements: We are one of the UK's top 10 providers of ‘sandwich’ courses where students undertake a paid work placement in industry and believe that student placements are vitally important to the University's overall mission in ensuring that our graduates are equipped with a good balance of knowledge, skills and experience.

Work placements are periods of vocational training and experience, usually lasting from 6 to 48 weeks depending on subject area, which form part of a student's academic qualification. Placement students are normally paid a salary by the employing organisation and in return our talented students offer many distinct advantages to your business.
